What does it mean to be a trauma-informed educator, and why is it important? Across Canada, more children are entering school having experienced trauma, and differing levels of resiliency. In this workshop, you will learn about what constitutes trauma and how much it impacts our young learners, and what you can do to support a positive learning environment for all children through trauma-informed practices.

Tristan Bannister is a Kindergarten French Immersion teacher in the Saanich School District. She is passionate about using Montessori methods and trauma-informed practice in her teaching, and is exploring the impact of outdoor education in urban environments. She is completing her M.Ed in Curriculum Leadership at UVic.
