Looking for a curated, safe, and reliable collection of online resources? Two SD61 Teacher-Librarians will lead an exploration of. eLibrary, an elementary/early middle school-focused hub of digital resources to support the learning and instructional needs of students, families and teachers. While rich in content and wide in scope, the site’s design provides easy access for young patrons and emerging and beginner readers through simple text and icon-based navigation. This web portal for elementary and middle school level students attempts to alleviate some of the burden on teachers and parents to source quality, age-appropriate, online educational content and provide a safe space for student exploration. While not an exhaustive collection of resources and information,eLibrary hopes to serve as the preferred starting point for online learning.
We will be drawing attention to our newly developed Diversity section and we may be ready to share some of our preliminary efforts to expand and integrate more indigenous resources into eLibrary.

Ben has been working in the field of education for over 25 years. He has worked as an educational consultant helping schools around the province integrate technology with the curriculum, a highschool teacher, school technologist, school administrator and elementary technology teacher. He has been an elementary school librarian for the past 17 years. Currently Ben is the Teacher-Librarian at both Torquay and Tillicum Elementary Schools in the Victoria School District. Ben is the co-founder of elibrary.sd61.bc.ca.
Elly has been an educator for over twenty years with experience teaching preschool to high school students. Having worked part-time for several years in various school libraries, Elly is delighted to be a full-time Teacher-Librarian and be a part of two wonderful elementary school communities in the Greater Victoria School District. The elibrary@sd61.bc.ca has become one of Elly’s favourite digital resources to share with students and teachers. As an enthusiastic eLibrary user, Elly hopes to inspire other educators to incorporate this platform into their own teaching routines.
