This workshop will introduce you to several freely-available tools for assessing your students skills in phonemic awareness, letter naming, phonics, fluency, and comprehension. The tools can be used as screeners, diagnostics, and for progress monitoring. The workshop will start with an introduction to the tools and a background of who developed them and why they are effective. This will be followed by some time to learn how to use the assessments. All participants will receive a copy of the assessment tools, plus a list of links to where they can be downloaded for free. Assessments discussed will include DIBELS (multiple measures), PAST (phonemic awareness), and CORE Phonics. This workshop is suitable for K-5 teachers.
